Our First Month on Trim Healthy Mama

It’s been one full month of following the Trim Healthy Mama plan. During our first week I lost five pounds and Scott lost seven! We weren’t starving and we felt great. Such positive results carried us through our first month.

It’s been so great losing weight with my husband as my partner. We’ve been encouraging each other and providing support and accountability. It’s so much harder to cheat when you’re teamed up with your spouse. Of course, because he’s a guy, the weight falls off him a little faster. That punk. 😉 While I’m working on being a Trim Healthy Mama he’s turning into one Totally Hot Man.

Scott has lost 14 pounds and I’ve lost 12!

How awesome is that?! I’m super psyched. It really hasn’t been hard at all. We’ve only just started some minor exercise (walking and that sort of stuff) this past week. Our weight loss thus far has been totally food based. 

And we’re not starving. Let me repeat that: We Are Not Starving. 

We’ve enjoyed delicious food like mozzarella-filled mini meatloaves, fully-loaded salads, Asian Baked Chicken, cakes, brownies, cookies, muffins, even pizza. We’ve been able to go out to eat on the Trim Healthy Mama plan without  sabotaging our progress. 

By sticking to the plan and eating only S (satisfying) and E (energizing) meals, keeping meals and snacks spaced 3 hours apart, and cutting out sugar and overly processed foods we’ve been able to lose weight and feel more energetic and happy. 

I’m still technically in the postpartum phase after baby number seven, so I have a few more weeks until I can attempt to put on “real” (non-maternity) pants. That c-section did a number on me… not to mention having four babies in three years. But at least my yoga pants are a little baggy! I can’t tell you how great it is to have to pull up my pants because they’re starting to fall down. 

Size 14 here I come, baby. And I won’t stop until I get to a 12, maybe even a 10! I’m a curvy lady with a naturally larger frame, so single-digit pant sizes really aren’t a healthy size for me. To be in a size 10 would be tremendous. We’re talking high school days right there. 

And Scott has had to go down a notch on his belt. We’ll be buying him some new jeans soon too. He’s even started working out with our teenage son. It’s great to see him with more energy.

So do I recommend Trim Healthy Mama? Absolutely! 

I’ve had more time to really read through the book these past few weeks and I’ve enjoyed all the information and encouragement offered in all 650 pages. And the Trim Healthy Mama Facebook Group is outstanding. The day I weighed less than 200 I shared the news in the group and within an hour I had 500 likes and over 30 comments congratulating me and welcoming me to “One-derland” (a cute term for your weight starting with a 1 instead of a 2). I got a little teary-eyed, y’all. It was just so great to have that kind of overwhelming encouragement. 

I can’t wait to update with our results at the six month mark!
