This is my second year to participate in The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap. My first year I made yummy Andes Mint Swirled Cake Mix Cookies, but this year I wanted to make a healthier cookie to reflect our new Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle. I puzzled around in my brain, thinking of a cookie that […]
My husband’s grandmother has a little Cajun in her family line. She makes some outstanding Cajun food and my husband has a taste for her flavorful, down-home comfort food. I’m always on the lookout for Cajun style dishes to feed my hubby. For several years we’ve loved this fantastic and easy Dirty Rice recipe from […]
My husband, Scott, and I started the Trim Healthy Mama plan on Monday, February 17, 2014. I weighed 205 and was five weeks postpartum after baby number seven. Scott weighed 227 pounds. We were both unhappy with our weight and ready to make some changes. Our bodies hurt, we were tired all the time, we certainly didn’t love our squishy bellies. I had four babies in four short years (I have seven children total) and my body was a bit of a wreck. In between pregnancies I would cut back on calories, trying to stick to a mere 1400-1600 a day, constantly starving but never really seeing any weight loss. I would begin intense exercise programs – but my body was so sluggish and often in pain, I didn’t enjoy exercising at all. During my pregnancies I would give up and eat whatever the heck I wanted. And being the awesome supportive husband he is, Scott would join me. We both love food, and we really love making delicious dishes to share with each other. Our love sort of grew… in the form of spare tires.
Finally, while I was pregnant with baby number seven a dear friend started her Trim Healthy Mama journey. I remember hearing she was changing her eating habits and her mom was joining her. I saw her at various get togethers and I could see she was losing weight. I thought it was neat and I was happy for her and her mother, but it didn’t click for me. And then she visited me in the hospital after I had little Gideon. I hadn’t seen her for a couple of months and I was blown away! She looked absolutely fantastic! I knew she hadn’t been on the Trim Healthy Mama plan for long, but she had reached her goal weight and was glowing with health and confidence. Right then and there I told myself I was going to do what she did. I wanted to glow like that. I wanted my husband to be healthy. A few weeks later I ordered my book and got started.
Our Trim Healthy Mama results have been nothing short of AMAZING.
China Doll? Ka-hana Dale? What the what? Chana Dal is a type of legume that comes from India. It’s a lot like a chickpea, with a creamy mellow flavor. This almost magical little bean is extremely low on the glycemic index and has virtually zero impact on blood sugar levels. It’s a perfect food for […]
Pasta salad is a favorite summer side dish in our family. Light, creamy, and cool – it’s the perfect side for grilled meats. We’re not really into pasta right now, since we’ve been enjoying losing weight on the Trim Healthy Mama eating plan. But with a few simple changes we were happily enjoying a delicious […]
These delicious sugar-free, gluten-free Strawberry Cupcakes saved the day! We celebrated our daughter Abigail’s third birthday with an all-out princess party, per her request. And a princess party just isn’t complete without sweet super-pink cupcakes. So while I served up a batch of sugar-laden naughtiness for the party, I also whipped up a batch of […]
