It’s our Trimaversary! My husband and I have been on the Trim Healthy Mama plan for a full year and together we’ve lost almost 100 pounds (99 to be exact). We’ve not only lost weight, but our overall sizes have shrunk dramatically. Trim Healthy Mama has changed the entire trajectory of our lives – giving us lower blood pressure, increased energy, and steering us away from diabetes and other health issues. My husband, Scott, and I started the Trim Healthy Mama plan on Monday, February 17, 2014. I weighed 205 and was five weeks postpartum after baby number seven. Scott weighed 227 pounds. We were both unhappy with our weight and ready to make some changes. Our bodies hurt, we were tired all the time, we certainly didn’t love our squishy bellies. I had four babies in four short years (I have seven children total) and my body was a bit of a wreck. In between pregnancies I would cut back on calories, trying to stick to a mere 1400-1600 a day, constantly starving but never really seeing any weight loss. I would begin intense exercise programs – but my body was so sluggish and often in pain, I didn’t enjoy exercising at all. During my pregnancies I would give up and eat whatever the heck I wanted. And being the awesome supportive husband he is, Scott would join me. We both love food, and we really love making delicious dishes to share with each other. Our love sort of grew… in the form of spare tires.
Finally, while I was pregnant with baby number seven a dear friend started her Trim Healthy Mama journey. I remember hearing she was changing her eating habits and her mom was joining her. I saw her at various get togethers and I could see she was losing weight. I thought it was neat and I was happy for her and her mother, but it didn’t click for me. And then she visited me in the hospital after I had little Gideon. I hadn’t seen her for a couple of months and I was blown away! She looked absolutely fantastic! I knew she hadn’t been on the Trim Healthy Mama plan for long, but she had reached her goal weight and was glowing with health and confidence. Right then and there I told myself I was going to do what she did. I wanted to glow like that. I wanted my husband to be healthy. A few weeks later I ordered my book and got started.

Diet food… it’s tough. Yes, I have to survive on Lemon Butter Cake, Pork Rind Pork Chops, Mozzarella-filled Mini Meatloaves, Strawberry Cupcakes, and French Toast.
